📚☕️What better way to sample different text genres than at our very own Starbooks Cafe! Third grade teachers designed the learning spaces to feel like cafes. Students read samples from multiple genres and gave each one a thumbs up or thumbs down based on their current interests.
💡 In Miss Milano’s first grade class we worked on taking a whole number, breaking it into two parts, and writing the equation to match.

Miss Torres, student teacher, is running Morning Circle in Mrs. Strizu's class. This morning, we all shared one good thing about our week😀
Students in Ms. Pile’s class used arm motions to demonstrate parts of a sentence. After small groups and partner pairs discussed the prompt, the group made a pyramid showing they were ready to share out.
Mrs. Hunt’s class worked together today in math to practice breaking a whole number into two parts. We used counters to visualize as we solved each problem 🔴🟡
Last night, the Board of Education approved switching SIP days in September due to the LIV Golf tournament at Bolingbrook Country Club. Students will be in school on Monday, September 16, and off school on Friday, September 13. The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory and excessive heat watch for our area until 8 p.m. Tuesday. District 202 uses the following guidelines on days with extremely hot and or humid weather:
• Recess/PE outdoors if the heat index is 90 degrees or below
• Recess/PE indoors if the heat index is above 95 degrees
The heat index takes into account both air temperature and relative humidity. If the heat index is between 91 degrees and 94 degrees principals can decide if students stay inside or go outdoors.

Kindergarten students practiced counting and fine motor skills with play-dough in class today. Our newest Wildcats have had a great, first whole week of school! 🙌🏾
Mrs. Strizu's first grade students started learning how to do their Daily 3 math rotations! ➕➗✖️➖
Mindy Jackson with the Plainfield Library came to first grade to celebrate the alphabet! She shared many books involving letters with the students. The books included ABC’s in pictures, sign language, and braille! 📚
