13 D.202 middle school students named finalists in TREP poster contest

Plainfield – Thirteen students from three District 202 middle schools earned accolades in the 2023 Three Rivers Educational Partnership (TREP) Middle School Safety Poster Contest.

Thirty-three high school and 46 middle school students were recognized in the 7th annual contest.

Students created posters that focused on recognizing and eliminating safety hazards at home, in school, or during extracurricular activities.

The goal of the contest is to nurture a safety mindset in the students.

This year’s topics included fire safety, internet safety, stranger danger, and social media safety.

These District 202 middle school students were named finalists in the contest:

Drauden Point Middle School

  • Omar Arrez, Jr., eighth grade

Heritage Grove Middle School

  • Luisa Savazzini, sixth grade
  • Kaushal Pratury, sixth grade
  • Janani Velayutham, sixth grade
  • Nathan De Guzman, sixth grade
  • Isabelle Yui, sixth grade

Timber Ridge Middle School

  • Gavin Furlane, eighth grade
  • Anthony Battaglia, eighth grade
  • Caysen Melling, sixth grade
  • Jonah Orlando, sixth grade
  • Kaylee Thornton, sixth grade
  • Audrey Pen, sixth grade
  • Madelyn Loucks, sixth grade
